The Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE)

We are incredibly proud to offer The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) at our school, giving our students the chance to take on a highly respected youth achievement award. The DofE is an amazing opportunity for students to discover new talents, push their boundaries, build lifelong friendships, and develop the resilience and confidence needed for the future.

The award is a personal challenge, not a competition. Students design their own program by choosing activities they love across four key sections: VolunteeringPhysicalSkills, and an outdoor Expedition.

The DofE Pathway at Streetly

We guide students through the award levels as they progress through school, aligning each stage with their year group:

  • Year 9 – Bronze Award: A fantastic introduction to the program. Students learn the basics of teamwork and commitment, finishing with a 2-day, 1-night camping expedition.

  • Year 10 – Silver Award: Students step up the challenge by building on their Bronze experience (or joining fresh). The expedition extends to 3 days and 2 nights, requiring stronger navigation and campcraft skills.

  • Sixth Form – Gold Award: The ultimate achievement. Open to our Sixth Form students, Gold requires exceptional dedication over 12 to 18 months, a demanding 4-day expedition in wild country, and an additional 5-day residential project working with a new team.

"The DofE is highly valued by colleges, universities, and employers alike because it proves a young person can lead, work in a team, and stick with a challenge."

Students will be introduced to the program, registration costs, and how to apply during their year-group assemblies.
